How SYRO treats your data.

Last updated 26 October 2026

The short version: SYRO keeps what it needs to plan and mark your study, nothing more. No ads, no selling data, no public profiles, no tracking cookies. You can download or delete everything from Me at any time.

01Who we are

SYRO is an exam-prep service for Pearson Edexcel International qualifications, run from Libya. We decide what happens to your data. Questions about it: hello@syro.education.

02What we keep

  • Your account: email address, how you sign in (a password, a 6-digit code or Google), the name and username you choose, date of birth, country, your units, sitting and target grades, and your answers to the short welcome survey.
  • Your vision board: the goals you write and up to six pictures you add. Stored privately; seen by you and the SYRO team only, never shown to parents or other students. Please don't add photos of other people.
  • Your study: which notes you opened, the past papers you marked done, the mistakes you log and how you fixed them, your answers to practice questions and the marks they got, your mock exams (your answers, the time you took and the marks), which flashcards you knew and when each comes back, the rescue plans you make with the panic button (not stored, only shown), and your conversations with the mentor.
  • Photos of your written work, only if you send them: kept privately (only you can open them), with location and camera details removed before they leave your phone, and sent to our AI provider to be marked. Delete a photo and it is gone.
  • Your plan: whether you are on the free trial, the free plan or SYRO Full, any access code you used, when you used it and until when it opens SYRO Full.
  • If you join a class: the class, the mock marks your teacher enters for you, and your answers to work your teacher sets. Your teacher sees your results for that class, never your mentor conversations or your photos.
  • Your phone number, only if you give one: it is optional when you create an account. Only you and the SYRO team can see it; it is never shown to other students, teachers or parents. You can ask us to remove it at any time.
  • For students under 18: your parent or guardian's email address and the date they agreed.
  • When something breaks: the error message, the page and the browser's technical details, linked to your account so we can fix it.
  • Visits to the public site: the page, the site you came from, the screen size and the country, with a code that changes every day. No cookie, no IP address stored, and it cannot follow you from one day to the next.

We never ask for your school, your address or a photo of you, your phone number is optional, and we do not read your device's contacts, location or files.

03Why we keep it

  • To run SYRO for you: your daily plan, your notes, your mistakes list and the mentor all read your study data. This is the service you asked for.
  • To keep it safe and working: sign-in, error reports, stopping abuse.
  • To make SYRO better: we count what is used, across all students, never to profile one of you.
  • Marketing emails only if you turn them on. They are off unless you choose otherwise.

04Who else touches it

A few companies run parts of SYRO for us. Each gets only what its job needs and may not use it for anything else.

  • Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in. Servers in Ireland (EU).
  • Vercel hosts the site. Our servers run in Dublin; pages are delivered from the location nearest you.
  • Anthropic runs the AI behind the mentor. When you ask the mentor something, your message and the study details it needs to answer (your units, open mistakes, today's note) are sent to Anthropic in the United States. When you ask SYRO to mark a written practice answer, a mock exam answer or a photo of your work, the question, its mark scheme and your answer or photo are sent the same way. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
  • Resend sends our emails: sign-in codes, parent consent emails, a welcome email, and reminders after two days away (you can switch reminders off on Me, or from any reminder).
  • Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google. Google tells us your email and name.

We never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or show it to other students. Only a few SYRO staff can see it, and only to support you or fix a problem.

05Students under 18

SYRO is for students aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree before you can keep using SYRO: we email them a link that explains what SYRO is and what it keeps, and they choose yes or no. Until they agree, the mentor stays off, so nothing you type is sent to the AI.

Parents and guardians can write to hello@syro.education to see their child's data or have it deleted. We do not show parents the private parts of the app, such as what a student writes to the mentor, unless the law requires it.

06How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. When you delete it, your account and study data are removed at once; anonymous counts (such as “a note was opened”) stay, with no link to you. Copies in our database backups are overwritten within 30 days.

07Your rights

  • See it: Me → Download my data gives you everything in one file.
  • Correct it: Me → Change units, sitting or targets; anything else, write to us.
  • Delete it: Me → Delete my account. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
  • Say no to marketing: it is off by default, and every email has a way out.
  • Complain: write to us first and we will answer within 30 days. You can also contact the data protection authority where you live.

08Keeping it safe

Data is encrypted when it travels and when it is stored. Every table has rules so a student can only reach their own rows; only a handful of staff accounts exist. No system is perfect: if a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and, where the law requires it, the authorities, as fast as we can.

09Cookies

Only the ones that keep you signed in. No advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner to click.

10Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
